The P-47D Thunderbolt, nicknamed the Razorback for its raised fuselage spine, was a frontline fighter in World War II. With a supercharged powerplant delivering about 2000hp, it could fly at high altitude to escort bomber formations. Fitted with eight 12.7mm machineguns, the aircraft offered strong defensive firepower and heavy survivability for ground attack tasks.
Tamiya's 1/72 rendition captures the early P-47D profile, paying particular attention to the rear fuselage lines and distinct belly contours. The model is built from left and right fuselage halves with internal joining beams that assist accurate wing alignment and improve structural fit.
